My Home {that's for sale} Sneak Peek

The painting is about 90% done. Phew!
I know it's been a couple of months since I posted my inspiration colors and you're probably laughing inside (like I've finally let myself) that it's taking me soooo long. It literally took me weeks to finalize a color. It's not because I didn't know what I wanted, but because everyone else wanted something and I had make everyone happy (the life of a designer). ;)

So I hunted for that perfect color.
It had to be a neutral for those who coming through to possibly buy the home, it couldn't be a gray because gray doesn't sell around here, it couldn't be a pure beige because there is already so much beige  (plus, I couldn't bring myself to do beige), and it couldn't be too dark because the it's an older home and the rooms are not open to each other.

I gathered lots of colors and taped them to walls, mixed and matched looking at them at all times of day and night. One night I handed them to my sisters and we looked through them deciding on "the one": Geneva Swan Gray from Walmart (#11192). It is the perfect amount of beige, gray, blue, and green. Yep...all four colors!
Depending on the time of day and what lights are on, the color changes. In the evening it looks slightly more beige (first photo) and in the morning it looks more gray (second photo). I couldn't be happier! It's just dark enough that it highlights the bright white moldings and built-ins showing off the adorable characteristics of the home while still giving it a bright, clean feeling.
I've also had a chance to start pulling out my decor and making the place look lived-in and loved. Before and afters of the different rooms to come...
Remember how I said the painting is only 90% done? It's the bathroom that's still on hold. I've got to tear down the old wallpaper border that, I swear, was put up with super glue. Do you have any tips on how to get the paper and glue to come off cleanly? I'd love to hear them!

Once that's done I can paint the walls that beautiful, light mint blue color! Eeee, can't wait!

So far, so good, and so much work. Hope you're liking it as much as I am!
Stay tuned for before and afters for the upstairs...hopefully coming soon!
