New Blog Design: Cute Family of Four

The Groesbeck family were neighbors of ours in college. Since then, they've doubled in size! Aren't their little girls so cute? Abbey was looking for a fresh, new look using their new family photos. She wanted to include them in her header without using one big photo, so we created a whimsical look with  a few circles and fun fonts. The bright colors with grays accents pulls all the colors, patterns, and photos together creating a cohesive composition.

New Blog Designs! And Why Yellow is Perfect for Your Blog!

Yellow is considered a bright, warm, or cheery color! It is also considered to be an "attention grabbing" color due to the high amount of light that is reflected from it. Gold is a toned version of yellow and is a beautiful complimentary to nearly every other color.

It's also super trendy...did you know that Honey Gold is one of Pantone's fashion colors for 2012? I can't lie, it's one of my favorites right now, especially for spring and summer!

Check out these recently designed yellow/gold blogs...

Vintage Market is an adorable shop that is open one weekend a year to sell the cutest furniture and decor. My aunt and cousins are very talented ladies! You don't want miss out on this one!

The Benson family was one of two winners of the last blog makeover giveaway. I love how it turned out! Aren't they an adorable family!

>> Does your blog include yellow or gold? If so, I'd love to see how you incorporated it! Please share a link to your blog in the comments! I love discovering new blog friends!

Pantone Color Forcast for 2012

source
Here is what's coming our way over the next few months!

Tangerine Tango is listed first because it is "The Color of the Year!" Woo woo! So bright and delicious!

I'm also loving the bright, cheery colors paired with the dusty neutrals.

I can imagine most of the interiors will be neutral backdrops with accents in the bright colors and patterns, similar to what we're seeing now.

In fashion I already see the bright colors being paired together, called color blocking. The official color report for Spring 2012 are mostly feminine colors.

What are you favorite colors from Pantone's Top Colors?
The warm colors or cool colors?
Bright colors or toned colors?
Some of both?

Please share!

Transitional Bedroom Design Board

This room was so fun to design! The color palette was inspired by the client's existing bedding so we started with blacks and browns as the dark, accent colors. We wanted the accent colors to be relaxing, yet refreshing, with the majority of the room being light and bright! Because the bedding and headboard were new and beautiful, we chose pieces to compliment the lines and colors of the black color and contemporary lines. Overall it's a peaceful yet inspiring bedroom to enjoy any time of day!

Robin Egg Blue + Pop of Gold in a Bedroom

You have probably noticed this trend: light blue or teal + gold
Personally, I love it!
I love the relaxing feeling that the blues add with the punch of exciting and warming gold tons.

I also have a client who loves the trendy combo!
{It's so fun to work with people who have a similar style to your own!}
These are the inspiration photos that we are creating her master bedroom concept after.
Her furniture will be white with black accents, a soft blue color on the wall, and accents of gold!
What do you think?

a reception do-over

Now, I'm not saying that I ever want to get married again, because, luckily, I found the man of my dreams, but sometimes I wish I could do the reception part again. I was barley 20 when I got married, so honestly, I didn't quite know what I wanted or what I was doing.

I ooh and aah over some of the weddings lately and wish for another opportunity. These are some of my very favorite wedding inspiration boards. I have other color inspiration pieces pinned to my Pinterest

I've had the chance to do a little wedding decorating and I absolutely LOVED it! I wouldn't mind it at all if I could do it for a living! It's such a fun and exciting atmosphere to be around! Everyone loves a good love story and wedding...even with all the stress and bridezillas! ;)

What were your colors? If you could do it again, what would you have done differently?

I think #4 would be perfect for a baby girl's room, #8 for a living room, and #9 for a bedroom!
Which combo is your favorite?

Blue, Teal, and White Rooms

If you haven't noticed, I like blues and greens...so that automatically means I like turquoise. House of Turquoise is one of my favorite blogs to drool over. Today they highlighted Bonesteel Trout Hall (which is fabulous!) so I had to share a few of my favorites:

Find Your Style

One of the most commonly asked questions I get is, "How do I find my style?" Well, guess what...it just became a whole lot easier! Gathering photos of rooms you like is one of the best ways to get started and a few genius' created a website where you can do just that!

Pinterest.com allows you to find, gather, sort and share photos that you love. You can "pin" rooms, accessories, fashion, tips, quote, anything that inspires you! Here are some photos that I found that I love!

Christmas Vacation :: Cozy Bedrooms

A few things I love about Christmas is the time I get to spend with family, friends, and relax. This morning I can't stop thinking about my comfy bed and the fuzzy blanket we got from Aunt Peggy. Hence, the reason for my post this morning...comfy/dreamy bedrooms. [sigh...]

One of my very first Space Planning projects was in this style. It's not my number one favorite, but it sure does hold a special place in my heart. See my project HERE.

I'm going to have a button-tufted headboard someday. Maybe not purple, but white, grey, or black...

Hope you all get to relax some this holiday season!

Historic Redesign: Rendered Bedrooms

A sophisticated spaced themed room for 2 little boys

An exotic romantic master bedroom

This was our final project for this semester.
My professor once owned part of the old historic Masonic Hall in Boise, ID.
We were to redesign the commercial space (1st floor) and add a 3rd floor to the 2nd floor space.
I had to research systems to add this 3rd floor.
He was my 'client' and I had to design with his furniture and his taste.

This has been the largest project this far in the program because we had 3 floors to design,
to specify furniture for the residential space, to meet all the regulations
that historic buildings require, and select finishes that our 'client' liked.

Although it was a lot of work, he really liked my plans for the space, furniture I had selected,
the finishes for the master suite, and especially like my idea for the space themed bedroom for the boys.
