Add Color on a Budget

1. Paint! Paint! Paint!
Paint is an instant color change! It can make your room, furniture, accessories
completely different and NEW!

{I snagged this plaster pinecone at a garage sale a while back for only 50 cents.
A little spray paint and it looks brand new! Perfect to accessorize my bookshelf!}

2. Pillows!
This a great way to change up your colors for a new season, a new look, or just because!

3. Texture Balls. They come in many sizes, textures, and colors.

4. Fabric: scarves, table runners, place mats, napkins, dish clothes...anything will work!
PS Scarves make really great table runners. They "puddle" and "gather" super easy! ;)

5. Flowers! You can't go wrong adding a piece of nature to your space.
It adds life, color, energy, and a sense of renewal! {Perfect for the winter blues}.

Last minute holiday decorating on a budget up next!

Robin Egg Blue + Pop of Gold in a Bedroom

You have probably noticed this trend: light blue or teal + gold
Personally, I love it!
I love the relaxing feeling that the blues add with the punch of exciting and warming gold tons.

I also have a client who loves the trendy combo!
{It's so fun to work with people who have a similar style to your own!}
These are the inspiration photos that we are creating her master bedroom concept after.
Her furniture will be white with black accents, a soft blue color on the wall, and accents of gold!
What do you think?

Blue, Teal, and White Rooms

If you haven't noticed, I like blues and greens...so that automatically means I like turquoise. House of Turquoise is one of my favorite blogs to drool over. Today they highlighted Bonesteel Trout Hall (which is fabulous!) so I had to share a few of my favorites:

Relaxing Guest Bedroom

Jill has an eye for beauty. She understands the elements and principles of design as one can notice from her beautiful work: Jill Aponte Photography.

When she contacted me to help her with her guest room, I was very excited! I had seen her photography so I knew she had great taste!

As I entered her home for the first time I realized that her taste carried over into her home. It was beautiful! But, she said her creativity had stopped at the door of her guest bedroom and she needed some ideas. It used to be her photography studio and has since been a hodge podge room. Her in-laws were coming to stay for a while and it needed to be done before they came!

Her guests were coming from Florida so she wanted to reflect the blues, turquoises, and oranges from that area. We decided to keep the bedding and dresser white to reflect the clean, linen, coastal look and then accent with the bright colors!

I visited her space a few times, bringing in paint samples, accessories, sketches and ideas of what we could do. We decided on a blue/gray paint color for a clean, neutral backdrop. The metals over the bed act as a headboard, while the colorful accessories add life to the space!

Didn't it turn out great?

Thanks again Jill for letting me help you with your guest room!

Find Your Style

One of the most commonly asked questions I get is, "How do I find my style?" Well, guess what...it just became a whole lot easier! Gathering photos of rooms you like is one of the best ways to get started and a few genius' created a website where you can do just that!

Pinterest.com allows you to find, gather, sort and share photos that you love. You can "pin" rooms, accessories, fashion, tips, quote, anything that inspires you! Here are some photos that I found that I love!

Christmas Vacation :: Cozy Bedrooms

A few things I love about Christmas is the time I get to spend with family, friends, and relax. This morning I can't stop thinking about my comfy bed and the fuzzy blanket we got from Aunt Peggy. Hence, the reason for my post this morning...comfy/dreamy bedrooms. [sigh...]

One of my very first Space Planning projects was in this style. It's not my number one favorite, but it sure does hold a special place in my heart. See my project HERE.

I'm going to have a button-tufted headboard someday. Maybe not purple, but white, grey, or black...

I love four poster beds with white drapes. It' so simple, elegant, and romantic. Perfect for a bedroom!

Hope you all get to relax some this holiday season!
